General News Down Championship - All TicketThe Down vs Tyrone Ulster Championship game has been set for Omagh on May 22nd.
Omagh only has a capacity for around 20,000 people, so the match will be an all-ticket affair and demand is expected to far overreach supply.
All players and patrons are warned in advance that tickets issued to Ballyholland Harps will be distributed first to fully paid-up members. It is unlikely that tickets will be avilable for anyone who has not yet paid up. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Anyone who has not yet paid their membership but would like to be placed on a waiting list for tickets should contact either Mickey-John Keenan or Brendan O'Hare immediately to pay the fee. Posted on 14th Apr 05 by AMN
General News Busy weekend ahead for the SeniorsThe seniors have a busy weekend ahead with two Div 1 games planned...
Friday night away to Longstone, at the ridiculously early throw in of 6.45pm. Do you think anyone on the activities cmte has any common sense?? why so early? and how do they expect teams to make away games on time???
Then the re-scheduled game v Shamrocks at home, throw in at 2pm. Another silly rule in place means that although the Down u21s will have played on Saturday, JP will not be allowed to play this game, as it is "starred". Posted on 13th Apr 05 by SM
General News Shamrocks match rescheduledThe ACFL I fixture against Newry Shamrocks has been rescheduled for this Sunday (17th April) at 2pm.
The match was postponed due to the sudden death of Mr Tony Carr, whose son David is chairman of the Shamrocks club.
David's siblings Louise and Martin are members of our own club and all involved with Ballyholland Harps pass on their greatest sympathy to them and all their family circle. Posted on 12th Apr 05 by AMN
Juvenile Football News More county-itisGood luck to Joe Murphy and Tony Havern who have been called up to the Down u17 development squad.
The squad is meeting for a session at An Riocht on Saturday 9th of April. Posted on 8th Apr 05 by AMN
General News County-itis hits Ballyholland! The local community has been shocked by the latest epidemic to hit the area. It seems to effect only those that play in Red & Black!! Once donning these colours on a football pitch, players mysteriously go missing from club matches and training, then when they do show up, they are either injured or arent allowed to train. It seems that some higher being controls their every movement!!
Only joking lads, Ballyholland has bever been so awash with players togging out in the Red & Black. Currently we have 4 county players on show at various levels.
Gavin McAteer has made the Minor Panel for the forthcoming session. He has even died his hair red to show his desire to play. Word is he didnt have too far to go for hair dye, wink wink Aidan!!
James Patterson has now made two appearances (albeit as a high impact sub, just joking beeney man) for the u-21s and is due to represent the county Sat week in the Ulster Final v Cavan. Good luck James, but if you get on, keep those dukes down Rocky!
Rony Murtagh, we all know has been starring recently for the County Seniors at corner forward, forming a lethal combo with Benny Coulter. 0-3 from play in both recent games v Laois and Galway bodes well for both club and county. The Spice Boys are starting to deliver!!
Special word to Paul Murphy who has dug in over the winter months, honing that chiselled v taper, finally got his reward last week v Galway. A starting position v Decky Meehan at wing half forward. Good luck Jeebs for the Championship ahead.
Good luck to all the lads this season - ps dont forget the wee Club that got you to those dizzying heights! dig dig Posted on 6th Apr 05 by SM
