Under-8s see off all-comers

Congratulations to the Ballyholland under-8 team, who put on a terrific show in coasting to the Clonduff tournament on Saturday past.

There were 21 teams entered in the competition but none could get close to our lads.

Someone else will have to fill you in with all the stats but I've heard that nobody scored a goal past them all day, while in most games the wee fellas knocked up a cricket score at the other end.

Congratulations again to the boys and to their mentors.

Edit, SM

I was lucky enough to see their first 3 games, couldnt believe how good they were, and not just big lads who overpowered their opponents, which at this age group, normally happens, but rather we had lads with great skill irrespective of height.

Unfair I know to mention names, but Tiernan Rushe (Puddy's lad) scored 13 goals, and was unofficial player of the tournament, definitely much better than the oul fella, and one to watch!

More revised fixtures

Two more of Ballyholland's senior fixtures have been rescheduled.

-----------------------------------------------------

The Shamrocks game (at the Marshes) has been moved from Friday night to the following Monday (20th June) at 7.30pm.

This is due to the Marshes being used for the Down vs Fermanagh All-Ireland qualifier on Saturday.

-----------------------------------------------------

The game away to Clonduff, which was scheduled for 1st July, has been brought forward a day to Thursday 30th June, also at 7.30pm.

All Division I fixtures on that weekend have been brought forward because the County Minors are playing in the Ulster Championship on the Friday night.

Senior matches refixed

The coming week sees a couple of important fixtures for Ballyholland and both are being played on unusual days.

First up, tonight (Thursday) sees An Riocht travel to Ballyholland for what is a crucial bottom four clash.

This game has been refixed because of the Night at the Dogs on Friday.

Then, Monday night will see our old friends the Shamrocks making the wee trip up to Fr Lynch Park. As this was originally meant to be the season's opener, both teams will surely be chomping at the bit to have a go at one another.

Both games have a 7.30pm throw-in time.

Message Board Re-Opened

The message board has re-opened.

Some recent messages and log-ins have been lost, but not too many.

It seems that some crazed loyalist took taken exception to the Ballyholland website and hacked into the Message Board database last night.

All the files were wiped and replaced with, well, political statements.

I imagine whoever is doing this will be back for more. So please bear with me while I tighten security up a little.

Another successful Stars night

Just a word of thanks to everyone who supported the Stars in Yer Eyes night hosted by the BDA. As per the previous one the standard was again high and a great nights entertainment was had by all. The extent to which some people go to make eejits of themselves keeps getting raised. I doubt Ballyholland will ever be lucky enough to see "The Supremes" in the flesh again.

Thanks to all those who performed (using that word loosely), to the BDA committee members, Harps for the use of the club & to the bar staff, DJ Lenny and Barry O'Connor for the music and to the people of Ballyholland for supporting the event.

It helped raise just under £1000 which will be put to good use in drawing up the plans for the new centre. At present the major funding applications are being put together. The Youth work continues and funding for the Summer Schemes is also being sought.

Clonduff game re scheduled

The senior football match v Clonduff due to throw in tonight has been switched to Sunday at 2pm. Confirmation Mass in Hilltown meant change was a necessity.

On the plus side, we can welcome James Patterson back to the team! On the negative, Rony Murtagh has a cartilage injury and is out for the next 2 weeks! This means we probably wont see Rony in a Harps jersey for a number of weeks, with the Ulster Championship coming up soon.
